19th-Century English Landscape Painting in Oval Frame
Item Details
A 19th-century English oil painting landscape scene in oval frame. Storm clouds roll in from the left of the composition casting a dark shadow upon the decrepit structure in the center. Shimmering blue water in the background matches the blue of the sky to the right. Two cattle appear near the front of the structure, obscured by their dark color. The work is unsigned. Presented without glass, housed in an ovular gold painted wood frame with beaded outer moulding.
Condition
- craquelure present throughout; evidence of restoration under UV light; canvas is dry and rippling; small pinholes visible in the canvas; frame exhibits multiple scratches and marks throughout.
