1864 Springfield Caplock Musket

Item Details

An 1864 antique black powder musket by Springfield, made in Bridesburg, Pennsylvania. It is muzzle-loaded, with a cap lock mechanism. It has a walnut stock and a 39’ steel barrel. It features flip-up rear sights, two loops for a sling, and includes what appears to be the original ramrod. It was in working condition as far as the trigger being able to drop the hammer, however actual firing condition is not known as the piece was unable to be fully tested by EBTH. It is being sold as a historical collectible.

Condition

- metal discoloration/patina consistent with age. Hammer is somewhat stiff and must be pulled back hard to fully cock.
