A mid-century oil painting on canvas. The portrait depicts a Mediterranean woman wearing a patterned skirt, shawl and head scarf. She is shown seated next to a majolica vessel and holding a basket filled with an assortment of fresh vegetables. The work is signed in brown paint to the lower left with a signature that appears to read ‘Marceberger’; however, no clear artist attribution could be made. An adjacent inscription partially obscured by the frame appears to date the piece at 1933. The painting is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame with embossed scrolled details to the front and hanging twine to the verso.

- to Fair; wear and craquelure throughout canvas; surface wear, staining and loose joints to frame; toning and foxing to canvas verso; no backing paper present.
