A hand-colored lithograph on paper of a Pipilo aberti or Albert’s towhee, published in 1859. Published by the United States Government in the ‘Reports of Explorations and Surveys, To Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River To The Pacific Ocean’. Marked in plate to the upper margin, ‘U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys – 35th Parallel/ Birds – Plate XXX’. Housed between two layers of off-white matting with French lines and wrapped in plastic.
