An oil painting on canvas of a seated nude woman by listed French-American artist Jacques Zuccaire (1909-2006). Portrayed with vibrant colors and loose brushstrokes, this work features a seated nude woman looking into a large vanity mirror with a vase of flowers and fruit set in front of her. The painting is signed to the lower right and the artist’s name is handwritten to the canvas verso. The painting remains unframed.
Known for his vibrant still lifes, figural paintings, and commercial art, Jacques Zuccaire was born in Paris, France. He emigrated to the U.S. in the early 1920s and studied at Cooper Union and the Art Students League. Some art insitutions and galleries that displayed his work include James Hunt Barker Galleries, the Art Students League, and the Phyllis Lucas Gallery, among others.
