An oil and watercolor painting on unstretched canvas adhered to board of a garden scene by listed American artist William Benecke (1934-2001). Depicted is the grassy yard with a white picket fence and a whitewashed shed. Signed by the artist to the lower left. Presented without a frame or mat.
William Benecke was born in 1934 in Chicago, Illinois and received his formal art training at the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked as an illustrator for several major studios in Chicago and also worked as a staff illustrator for the Chicago Tribune and the Sun Times. At age 24, he emigrated to Mexico for ten years, during which time he painted and ran his own gallery. He is known for his landscapes, garden scenes and portraits.
