An engraving titled Hercules and Omphale by Goupil & Co. after listed French artist Gustave Boulanger (1824 – 1888). The work depicts a classical scene depicting Hercules under the charge of Omphale, she stands above him in a position of power. The piece is inscribed to the lower margin in plate, reading ‘G. Boulanger, Pinx’, ‘Copyright 1888 by G.B.’ and ‘Gravure Goupil & Co.’. The piece is presented matted in a gold tone wood frame under glass, wired on the verso.

Condition

- adhesive residue to the lower right; worn frame finish; staining to lower right; foxing and discoloration overall.
