A artist’s proof etching on Arches paper titled Mitla by listed American artist William Benecke (1934-2001). Depicted is an patio with potted plants in a tropical setting with palm trees. This print is labeled an artist’s proof out of a limited edition of 100. This work is signed and titled in the print margin. A graphite inscription present to the lower edge. Work is presented unframed.

William Benecke was born in 1934 in Chicago, Illinois and received his formal art training at the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked as an illustrator for several major studios in Chicago and also worked as a staff illustrator for the Chicago Tribune and the Sun Times. At age 24, he emigrated to Mexico for ten years, during which time he painted and ran his own gallery. He is known for his landscapes, garden scenes and portraits.
