Hand-Knotted Kaleen Indian Area Rug

A hand-knotted area rug by Kaleen. This Indian-made wool rug features an Agra design of palmettes, flowers, and foliage over an abrashed cinnamon field. The palette is cinnamon, taupe, olive, and camel. Framing the field are seven floral borders, including a herati primary border over an abrashed olive ground. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short ivory kilim skirts and knotted wool warp fringe. Labeling on the reverse includes ‘For Child Welfare,’ in reference to Kaleen’s opposition to child labor in the rug industry.
