Antique Victorian Rococo Revival Side Chair

Item Details

An antique Victorian Rococo Revival side chair, circa 1840-1875. The walnut frame features a rounded, fruit- and foliate-carved crest above a horizontal splat. The conforming stiles continue to curved hip supports and a beige needlepoint seat patterned with a multi-colored, floral bouquet in the center. The chair rises on cabriole, front legs centered by a bowed seat rail.

Condition

- some surface wear to frame; a couple small marks to upholstery; joint separation where crest meets left stile; slight joint separation where horizontal splat meets right stile; glue reinforcement where right hip support meets the stile.
