Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Area rug

Item Details

A hand-knotted Indo-Persian area rug. This wool rug, likely made in India, is rendered in a palette of brick red, black, olive, mustard, and cream. It features a harshang pattern of large- and medium-scale palmettes, flowers, lancet leaves, and vines over a red field. The field is framed by four borders, including a herati primary border over black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
