Antique Oil Painting on Canvas After Raphael's "Madonna della seggiola"
Item Details
An 19th-century oil painting on canvas after the original famed 1513–1514 oil painting on panel titled Madonna della seggiola by Renaissance Old Master Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (1483 – 1520), known more commonly as simply Raphael. The painting depicts Mary and the baby Jesus posing against a dark background as John the Baptist looks on reverently. This copy painting is unsigned. It is presented in an absolutely stunning antique wooden frame with a circular vignette. The frame has high-relief cast surface embellishments, including foliate designs and cherub busts. The frame has gold leaf finish across its surface. A hanging wire is attached to the piece’s verso, though it does not attach across the length of the painting.
