Abalone and Lacquer Inlay Chinese "Phoenix" Box

An inlaid abalone and lacquer Chinese phoenix box. This octagonal box features images of two phoenix birds amid flowers, lotus palmettes, and scrollwork, the imagery consisting of inlaid abalone over black lacquer. The interior of the box contains five removable divider sections in red. The piece is unmarked.
