An original vintage gouache painting on paper by very well-listed American wildlife artist William Harold Zimmerman (Indiana, 1937 – 2011), titled Green-Crowned Night Heron on Hardy Hibiscus. The stunningly realistic painting depicts one of the curious birds standing on a hibiscus’ thin stem. The plant sports two vivid blossoms that add a pop of vibrant pink to the otherwise neutral composition. The painting is signed to the lower right, and a tag attached to the verso gives basic information about the piece. The painting is matted in white and presented behind glass in a composite frame with dark brown and gold tone finish with intentional faux cracking. A hanging wire is attached to the piece’s verso.
Condition
- a bit of very pale foxing is developing across the painting’s surface.
