Early 20th Century Watercolor Painting on Paper Mountainous Landscape

An early 20th-century watercolor painting on paper of a mountainous landscape. This work features a large fenced field with some rural houses in the background. Forested hills are topped with mountains silhouetted against the sky. No signature was found on the painting. German handwriting in graphite is present to the underside and along the bottom of the paper board, both of which identify the subject of the work. Some of the handwriting reads ‘Lachsenburg Draisthal mach Hollbrucken Höhe Leier 3.4/7 03’. The painting is mounted on a paper board surface and presented under off-white matting. It remains unframed.
Condition
- small brown spot stains present in upper half of painting; some wear along edges of painting; yellowing throughout mat and paper board; some foxing along edges of mat; some wear throughout mat edges.
