Item Details
An original ink illustration on paperboard by well-listed Minnesotan Western genre artist Lorence F. Bjorklund (1911 – 1978). The drawing depicts a man in a small rowboat gazing at a fishing boat that approaches from the distance. The piece is labeled ‘p. 12’ and captioned to the lower margin in graphite: ‘Jim stared intently at the (?); then he saw the Hilda K’s vague outline coming toward him.’ The drawing is initialed in ink to the lower right, and the artist’s estate stamp is visible to the verso. The drawing is presented without matting or framing. Bjorklund studied under Nick Eggenhofer and illustrated over 300 books.
