Item Details
An original ink illustration on paperboard by well-listed Minnesotan Western genre artist Lorence F. Bjorklund (1911 – 1978), titled Riders of the Ghost Trail. The drawing depicts a woman holding a gun towards a man who holds his hands up in surrender; the two stand in a grassy field near an abandoned wooden canoe. The drawing is initialed in ink to the lower right, and the artist’s estate stamp is visible to the verso. Illegibly notes are written in graphite to the lower margin, and the illustration is labeled ‘41’. It is titled in graphite to the verso, where several other notes are also written. The drawing is presented without matting or framing. Bjorklund studied under Nick Eggenhofer and illustrated over 300 books. Condition
- light yellowing to board. Pinholes, staining, foxing, discoloration, and light ripping to margins. Adhesive residue and discoloration to verso.
