An oil painting on canvas of a romantic landscape signed ‘G. Allen’. Portrayed with meticulous detail, this work features a rocky water stream surrounded by trees and overgrown foliage. In front of a stone bridge, a man fishes along the bank. Distant hazy mountains are visible throughout the background. The painting is signed to the lower right; it is presented in an ornate gilt and gesso frame with scrolling foliate molding. A couple descriptive labels, one from W.T. Burger Company, are present to the verso.
Condition
- painting is loose in frame and needs securing; some rubbing and paint loss along edge of painting; minor wear in frame includes small chips, scratches, and stains throughout.
