Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Area Rug

A hand-knotted Indo-Persian wool area rug. The rug features a central floral medallion in a palette of powder blue, red, sage, and cream on a dark blue field. The field is densely populated by floral and lancet leave bundles and bouquets in a matching palette as the central medallion with large embellished floral spandrels and scrolls along either side. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a pattern of flowers on long stems, vases filled with blossoms, and lancet leave motifs that sit on top of a red background. It has overcast edges and a knotted wool fringe to either end. Unmarked.
