Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Sarouk Accent Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique to antique Persian Sarouk accent rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of abrashed madder red, sapphire, periwinkle, and camel. It features a madder-red field filled with sprays of periwinkles and other flowers amid stylized vines, palmettes, and lancet leaves. The field is framed by three floral borders, including an unusual interpretation of the herati pattern over sapphire in the main border. Minor floral borders are grounded in camel. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with tan wool warp fringe. Blue weft threads are visible on the underside. Unlabeled.
Condition
- fringe is unbound with loss to kilim skirts and loss to pile; there is fraying to selvedges, with one area of noticeable damage.
