An early 20th century painting on tree bark by Cincinnati artist Lee F. Randolph (b. 1880). The watercolor painting depicts the profile a Bohemian woman wearing strands of pearls at the neck and in her hair, signed F Randolph at the right. The bark painting is presented under old glass in a brown mat and simple oak frame with a raised edge.
Lee F Randolph was born in Ravenna, Ohio. He studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy, the Art Student’s League in New York and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in addition to living in Rome and Florence before returning to San Fransisco where he was a member of the Bohemian Club and Director of the California School of Fine Arts from 1919-1944. His work can be found in the Institute of Chicago, the Cincinnati Museum of Art, San Fransisco Museum of Art and in Luxembourg Museum, Paris.
Condition
The bark is naturally wavy.
