A vintage Ironrite Automatic model 88 ironer. The ironing mechanism is enclosed within a two-door cabinet standing on four straight legs that can be rolled on four casters. The faux doors with gold tone metal midcentury handles are part of a lid that opens upward and backward to reveal the model 88 ironer. This appliance features knob selections for ‘Wool – Cotton – Linen – Silk – Nylon – Rayon’. It is powered by an Emerson Electric motor marked ‘Made in St. Louis – Model S44 PJ-1089 – Type S – Temp Rise 40 C – Alternating Current Motor’. A label affixed to the rear of the cabinet is marked ‘The Ironrite – It Saves Labor – Model 88 Ironer – Ironrite Inc. – Mt. Clemens, Mich.’
