Pair of Vintage Chinese Ornamental Wooden Panels

Item Details

A matched pair of vintage Chinese ornamental wooden panels. Each panel is made with a wooden frame that includes a carved relief scene to the top. The scenes depict dancing figures and are embellished with gold tone paint. The lower portion of each panel includes a black painted section with stenciled decorative imagery throughout. Each piece includes dowel extensions to the edges from when the panels functioned as doors or shutters.

Condition

- heavy wear, chipping, scratching and staining throughout; several pieces of wood broken off to edges of one panel; chipping to paint and finish; scuffs and dents along edges; holes to front of each panel where handles may have been.
