Antique Powder Horn

Item Details

A circa mid-19th-century British gunpowder horn, made from a steer’s horn with brass end caps. The cap at the narrow end opens by pushing a button, which is ‘spring loaded’ using a circular band of flexible metal, and snaps closed when released. There is a leather carrying thong which is likely non-original. Marked to the cap ‘James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield’.
