Lithographs of Art Deco Travel Advertisements
Item Details
A grouping of three vintage Art Deco travel advertisements. Each lithographic poster features chromolithgraphic accents. The group includes a circa 1930s print promoting the French Line of Ile de France by Leo Fontan (French, 1884–1965); a print advertising the Mediterraneo Hotel in Balearic Isles – Spain; and finally, a 1930s PLM Railway poster of Summer on the Cote d’Azur Juan-Les-Pins after Roger Broders (1883-1953). Each poster is signed in plate, presented under glass and framed.
Condition
- each frame worn; some chips and scratches in frames; foxing on prints; dust collection and smudges on glass; age discoloration; screw holes on sides of frames from being mounted on wall.
- L’ete Sur la Cote D’azur: slight water damage to bottom edge; tape adhered to rip on bottom edge; graphite markings to edges; tonal variation to verso. Laid down.
- Mediterraneo Hotel: dry mounted to illustration board.
- French Line: dry mounted to mat board; Slight edge wear.
