Yoshida Hiroshi 1935 Woodblock "Sankei-en Garden"

A 20th-century color woodblock by Japanese woodblock artist Yoshida Hiroshi (吉田 博, 1876–1950), titled Sankei-en Garden (三渓園) from the series Eight Scenes of Cherry Blossoms (Sakura hachi dai) (櫻八題), published by the artist in 1935. The image depicts a peaceful scene in which a group of people walk along the grass, amongst blossoming cherry trees near a pond covered with lilies, a temple rising above the leafy canopies to rest on a soft yellow sky. Artist seal and additional characters are printed to the lower right. This work is mounted under cream matting, under glass in a beveled wood frame with a pickled finish, equipped to hang.
