An incredible hand written letter by the leading Scottish novelist Sir Walter Scott, written on heavy wove paper, bearing a wax seal. Addressed to a Mr. Short at Eton College, the piece bears the text ’In compliance with your wishes I am attempting to (illegible) with Mr. Turner and his (illegible) Sir John Beresford (illegible). I am sure I will (illegible) in becoming personally acquainted with your friend and you (illegible) very truly yours, Walter Scott, Abbotsford, 13 (illegible). The piece is attractively mounted on black matting and paired with a vintage postcard with an image of Scott and his literary friends. Housed in a simple ebonized wooden frame. Condition
Good overall, a small loss to the upper left corner of the paper, general light wear to the frame, etc.
