A late-nineteenth-century edition of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. This edition, published circa the 1880s by James B. Lyon of Albany, New York, includes a life of Shakespeare by Charles Knight and is ‘Beautifully Illustrated with Numerous Steel Engravings From Original Drawings, Chiefly Portraits in Character of the Most Distinguished American Actors.’ The book is bound in maroon cloth-covered boards with ornate black and gilt stamped cover decoration.
