Item Details

It begins with a fringed periwinkle medallion, the outer band of which is populated with griffin-like beasts that appear to be attacking goats/four legged animals. The medallion rests on a contoured, raspberry-colored field. Amid the palmettes, flowers, vines, and foliage of the field, the weavers have added numerous birds, perched or in flight. Spandrels feature a serpentine creatures curled around the vinework. Framing the field are compound floral borders, including an ornate herati primary border grounded in cream.
