A mid-century mixed media abstract collage by Don Werner (American, 1929-2010). The original work depicts a collage of burlap earth and media upon board. The piece is mounted within a handmade frame stained in a warm finish. Signed to the bottom left corner with a wire verso for hanging.
Donald Lewis Werner was an American photographer, painter, and graphic designer born in Fresno, California in 1929. He studied at Fresno State College with Adolf and Ella Odorfer and Jane Gale. He was in Who’s Who in American Art and exhibited work at Gallery 1984, the Fresno Art Museum, the National Arts Club, and the American Museum of Natural History. His works can be found in various collections including the Smithsonian Institute and the Fresno Art Museum.
