A 1955 original watercolor and ink on linen titled Rain Garden by American artist Don Werner (1929-2010). The piece depicts flowers, done in black inked line work painted with watercolors in a palette of ochre, blue, green, and violet on a white ground. It is signed and dated in graphite to the lower margin. Presented matted in a wooden frame with an informational note and hanging wire affixed to verso.

Donald Lewis Werner was an American photographer, painter, and graphic designer born in Fresno, California in 1929. He studied at Fresno State College with Adolf and Ella Odorfer and Jane Gale. He was in Who’s Who in American Art and exhibited work at Gallery 1984, the Fresno Art Museum, the National Arts Club, and the American Museum of Natural History. His works can be found in various collections including the Smithsonian Institute and the Fresno Art Museum.
