A watercolor and ink painting on paper by Don Werner (1929-2010). The piece depicts a bridge running over a creek with weeping willows and house in the background. It is signed and dated 1961 in graphite to the lower left margin and presented in a canvas-lined, gold-tone wooden frame with hanging wire to verso.
Donald Lewis Werner was an American photographer, painter, and graphic designer born in Fresno, California in 1929. He studied at Fresno State College with Adolf and Ella Odorfer and Jane Gale. He was in Who’s Who in American Art and exhibited work at Gallery 1984, the Fresno Art Museum, the National Arts Club, and the American Museum of Natural History. His works can be found in various collections including the Smithsonian Institute and the Fresno Art Museum.
