A hand-knotted Persian Heriz area rug. This wool rug features a large star medallion with pendants in a central lozenge, on a filed of rectilinear floral patterns. The primary border offers a leaf and blossom pattern flanked by a carnation meander guard border. The rug is finished with overcast selvedge edges and a wool warp fringe at either end. A tag with illegible information is attached to the reverse.
