Early 19th-Century Etchings on Paper after L.F. Cassas

A pair of earl 19th-century etchings on paper titled Mausolées, Situés dans La Vallée Qui Conduit a Paymyre. and ANTIOCHE, appelée par les Arabes, ANTHAKYEH. after original works by French artist Louis-François Cassas (1756-1827). The etchings were first published in 1799 for Cassas’ book, Voyage Pittoresque de la Syrie, de la Phenicie, de la Palestine, et de la Basse Egypte after traveling throughout the Middle East, Egypt and Palmyre. The print of Antioche is labeled as Plate No. 7, engraved by Piquenot. The other is labeled Plate No. 104, engraved by J.B. Lienard. The prints remain unmounted and unframed.
Condition
- some discoloration around the edges; torn, rough edges at the top where they were bound in a book; some pale foxing present in both.
