Item Details
A replica Fabergé egg after an original currently within the permanant collection at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. This decorative piece honors the last of the Russian monarchs and features a gold-tone egg encrusted with clear faceted rhinestones and cabochon rhinestones, amid foliate and floral detail. Cartouches on the side of the egg feature images of a country cottage, a portrait of Czar Nicholas, a portrait of Peter the Great, and other imagery associated with the Russian Empire. The top of the egg opens to reveal a gold figurine, likely depicting Peter I on horseback, atop a base marked Petro Primo/Catharina Secunda MDCCLXXXII.’ Inscriptions on the egg’s exterior are in Cyrillic. The egg comes with a gold-tone stand as well as a satin-lined Fabergé box.
