An antique 1833 cross-stitch embroidery sampler on linen by Adeline Smith at 14 years of age, as stitched to the lower left. This sweet sampler depicts upper and lower-case alphabet, numerals 1 – 12, a whimsical scene with a cottage on a hilltop surrounded by trees, and a foliate border surrounding the piece. This precious textile is protected under hand-rolled, antique glass in an antique wood frame, equipped to hang.
