An original watercolor painting on wove paper by listed American landscape painter Edward R. Sitzman (Indiana/Ohio, 1874 – 1949). The painting depicts a wide grassy field dotted with tall stands of wildflowers. A few bushy trees and a body of water can be seen in the distance along the horizon line. The painting is signed in gray to the lower right. It is double-matted in forest green and white and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and a hanging wire. Information about the artist is written to the verso. Sitzman studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy with Frank Duveneck and Henry Farney and was a member of the Indianapolis Art Association, the Indian Art Club, and the Chicago Galleries Association.
