J. Hall Engraving after Sir Joshua Reynolds "Richard Brinsley Sheridan Esq."
Item Details
An engraving on paper, by an artist called J. Hall, after a portrait titled Richard Brinsley Sheridan Esq. by English painter Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). This print depicts the Irish playwright and poet in a powdered wig and against a heavy curtain, which has been drawn back to reveal heavy clouds. The piece, which was carefully rendered with hatching lines, includes an auction tag and a label from Frederick Keppel & Co. to the verso, along with a wire for hanging. It is matted under glass in a burled wood frame with a gold tone fillet.
Condition
- light toning to print and mat; minor scratching and wear to frame finish.
