An original mid-20th century miniature oil painting on board by well-listed 20th century Cincinnati painter Frank Harmon Myers (1899 – 1956), titled Pounding Surf. The painting depicts a massive foaming wave billowing as it smashes against a rocky shoreline. The painting is signed to the lower right and is signed and titled in ink to the verso of the frame. It is presented in a wooden frame with black and fly-specked gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso. Myers was a well-known Impressionist who studied and taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati; his works are now displayed in many prestigious museums. His best-known painting are of crashing waves painted with bright explosions of color.
Condition
- painting has come loose from frame to upper edge. Light scratching across frame. Frame has rubbed at painting’s surface in a few areas. Signature is partially covered by frame.
