1915 Maritime Landscape Gouache Painting on Paper of Junk Ships at Twilight

A 1915 gouache painting on paper by an anonymous artist. The maritime landscape piece depicts red and coral East Asian junk ships bathed in twilight as they navigate calm waters set against distant hills. The work is unsigned, but dated ‘July 10, 1915’ in graphite to the lower left. It is matted in light brown and presented under glass in a wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to Fair; wear along edges of painting; painting is out of alignment inside frame; toning and foxing to paper and matting; minor wear to frame; tears and water stains to backing paper.
