An oil painting on board of a Surrealist composition by Sandra S. Cohen. This work features two bare rear ends, one mounted on top of the other in an outdoor scene. A couple dogs are partially visible in the grass and an airplane flies above the figures. The painting is signed to the verso with additional handwriting that reads the artist’s name. The work remains unframed and is titled They wanted me for the Armed Forces per the consignor.
Sandra Cohen grew up in Newton MA and studied fine art at Parsons School of Design, the SMFA, Pine Manor, and the Art Institute of Boston. After Parsons, she began exhibiting her visual work at music venues in Brooklyn and Boston. She was juried into the Copley Society in 2000, and in April 2006, Co|So hosted her first solo show in the Red Room, where her work was selected for the Harvard Club’s Emerging Visions 2006. In 2008 she received a painting fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

drilled holes along edges of board from previous use; irregular board edges from previous use; incised scratches marks throughout composition; embossed indentations throughout board from previous use; a couple small spots of paint loss near upper edge and in upper right area; some paint loss along edges of board; faint stain near upper edge of composition.
