An antique Vanity Fair Spy cartoon titled The Bank Holiday. This print depicts Sir John Lubbock (1834 – 1913), an English banker who was also a politician, archaeologist, and entomologist, among numerous other pursuits. The work is signed in plate to the lower left and dated February 23rd, 1878 to the upper right, with the title printed beneath the image. It is presented under a mat and glass, in a wood frame with hanging wire affixed to the verso. A certificate of authenticity is included.
Condition
- some small punctures in backing paper to verso; foxing, minor stains, and mat burn to print.
