Hand-Knotted Heriz Serapi Area Rug
Item Details
A Heriz Serapi area rug. This wool Persian rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of rust, deep midnight blue, ivory, and azure. It begins with a very large pendant medallion over an ivory field. The semi-curvilinear medallion has serated edges around eight lobes, each of which contains a large palmette over rust. The field is minimally populated with vines and palmettes bracketed by deep spandrels grounded in midnight blue, pale rust, and ivory. Framing the field is a classic turtle main border over rust, flanked by meandering carnation minor borders over azure. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short white wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
