Indonesian Carved Teak Chair

An Indonesian carved teak chair. This piece features an elaborately carved and pierced crestrail, with floral designs above ball spindles, which separate the elaborate crestrail from the plain back. The arms curve upward from the seat, scrolling outward nearly even with the crestrail; they have shell and floral carvings at the center and ends, with reeding in between. To the sides, the slats that compose the seat and arms are visible. The chair rests on tapered, reeded vase shaped legs, which have ring turning to the knees and above the ball feet.
