A hand-colored etching with aquatint of a reading woman, by an artist signing the work ‘J. Hardy,’ generally believed to be a French boudoir artist called Jean Hardy (ca. late 18th century). This oval-shaped print depicts a young woman reclined on her stomach with a box full of letters opened before her, its contents spread out on the ground. The piece is carefully tinted with pinks and green, and is marked what appears to read ‘ISS – 3/0’ and signed by hand to the lower right margin. It is presented under glass in an oval frame with carved gold tone details and a cord to the verso for hanging.
