A Dandy crank pencil sharpener. This vintage gray metal item features a side crank, a drawer for shavings, changeable slot sizes for pencils, and a slender metal tube that feeds and holds the pencil. The crank has a wooden knob, and the drawer has a knob for pulling open. The body of the sharpener is marked ‘Dandy Automatic Feed Pencil Sharpener – Patented’ and ‘Manufactured Pencil Sharpener Co. – Chicago, U.S.A.’ The patent dates are from 1916 and 1918.
