Handmade African Block Printed Yardage

Item Details

A piece of handmade African yardage. This woven wool fabric is constructed of thin strips sewn together and has been printed with rectangular woodblock stamps containing geometric designs with collected vegetable dyes. Within these stamps, every other diagonal line contains the image of a cowrie shell and alternates between red and yellow. The overall ground has been speckled with black and purple dyes.

- some loose threads; fraying at cut ends.
