An oil landscape painting on board titled West Virginia Hills by Cleveland, Ohio born artist, Carl Gaertner (1898 – 1952). This piece depicts a country hillside with a house being engulfed by the river in a natural palette of browns and grays. It is signed to lower and dated 1947. Painting is titled to verso and dated 1939 – 47. Painting is presented in a wooden frame with a distressed finish and hanging wire to verso.
