Hand-Knotted, Restored Sarouk/Lilihan Sarouk Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted, restored Sarouk or Lilihan Sarouk wool area rug. The rug features a central floral medallion in a palette of powder blue, cream, maroon and sits on a deep red field. The field is very heavily populated by floral patterns, palmettes, lancet leaves, vines, and floral and vase medallions in a complementary palette and is enclosed by a compound border. Blue weft thread are evident to the underside. The border features a pattern of floral bouquets along vases with diamond patterns filled with florals throughout in a complementary palette. The rug has an overcast edge with a short cotton fringe and is not marked. It appears to have been restored with an attached fringe over a repaired serged end.
