David Bumbuck Signed Artist's Proof Etching on Paper "The Dream..."

A signed artist’s proof etching on paper fully titled The Dream, Homage to Artruro Martini by listed American artist David Bumbeck (b. 1940), created in 1966. This work features a half-nude woman sleeping with a blanket covering half of her body. A window to the outdoors slightly illuminates the dark scene. As indicated in the title, this work pays homage to Italian sculptor Arturo Martini (1889-1947). The composition is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right; it is marked ‘A.P’ and dated to the lower center; the title is handwritten to the lower left. Presented behind glass with off-white canvas matting and housed in a gold-tone wood frame.

Known primarily as a printmaker, David Bumbeck received his B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and his M.F.A. at Syracuse University. He is currently Professor Emeritus at Middlebury College. Bumbeck’s work has been collected by numerous institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the DeCordova Museum, among others.

- minor stains and residue throughout mat; minor smudges and residue throughout glass; wear in frame includes scratches, stains, gilt loss, and discoloration throughout frame; print is slanted under mat and needs to be repositioned.
